The same way the COVID-19 crisis needed a continency plan in order to create a protocol for healthcare professionals, the Insitute for Patient Experience (IEXP) has supported Acuam Healthcare in order to develop the first community and social app for people infected by the SARS CoV-2 coronavirus isolated at home. These patients need psychological and motivation support, logistic help, social aid as well as trustable, validated and professional information. This community has been developed with the results of the first study on Covid-19 patients and presented on April 12th.
The community combines information and audiovisual resources: reports, podcasts, information videos, etc. The app offers instant messaging among fellow patients, forums, geolocation as well as a chatbot that is based on emotional intelligence and motivation the is helpful for the follow up of the disease.
There are still over 200.000 patients infected and isolated in their homes and possibly one million people may have passed already the disease, as the study done by IEXP with the co-operation of the Spanish Society for Healthcare Quality (SECA) and the Madrid Hospital La Princesa. Out of the identified needs, Acuam Healthcare and IEXP joined forces in order to develop an answer for patients.
The content of the Pacientalia® patient community are developed together with IEXP, the Madrid Hospital of la Princesa, the Faculty of Medicine of the CEU University and the Spanish Society for Healthcare Quality in order to guarantee quality. Pacientalia® has granted the free use of the platform, that under normal conditions host 20 million of chronic patients in Spain.
